  • Sports/Performance Massage

Whether a weekend gardener or a seasoned athlete, many of us experience pain related to athletic injury that results from overuse, repetitive movement, or trauma. At Albany Massage, we are dedicated to helping you improve your ability to enjoy the activities you love. Sports massage is very much like therapeutic or medical massage with a focus on chronic or acute activity related injuries. This type of massage often also includes some assisted stretching and range of motion techniques. Our therapists are trained in the area of postural analysis and biomechanics and may suggest exercises as well as stretches to increase function, range of motion, and to help speed recovery time. Additionally, hot or cold therapy may be applied.

Available in 30, 60, 90, and 120 minute durations. We also offer 15 minute add-ons. Prices vary by session length. Pressure is adjusted to your preference.

  • Prenatal Massage

At Albany Massage, we believe that there is no other time during which therapeutic massage and bodywork can have as important an application than during pregnancy. We understand that while this is an exciting, miraculous time, it can also be a very uncomfortable, and possibly even painful one. We work with clients to help relieve pregnancy related discomfort and pain. Our office is fully equipped with specialty prenatal massage tables, allowing an expectant mother to lay face down with the spine in a healthy, neutral position which alone tends to reduce lower back pain. Our specialized tables are adjustable to accommodate a growing belly. Ask your doctor if you’re a candidate for prenatal massage today!

Available in 30, 60, and 90 minute durations. We also offer 15 minute add-ons. Prices vary by session length. Pressure is adjusted to your preference.

  • Couple's Massage

Our couples massages are a relaxing, therapeutic, semi-synchronized experience where two individuals receive simultaneous massages side by side in our comfortable and spacious couple’s massage treatment room! Both clients can still enjoy a massage that is custom tailored to their own personal preferences and bodywork needs.

Like all massage, couple’s massage has many therapeutic benefits, but an added benefit is the shared experience. So naturally, couple’s massages are not solely for couples! Sometimes friends or mother/daughter duos also choose to enjoy a massage in the same treatment room.

Available in 60 and 90 minute durations. We also offer 15 minute add-ons. Prices vary by session length. Pressure is adjusted to your preferences.

  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, specialized massage technique designed to enhance the lymphatic system’s function and move excess fluid away from swollen areas. It involves using light massage strokes that stimulate lymphatic vessel contractions to redirect fluid toward working lymph nodes and vessels. MLD aims to improve lymph fluid circulation, reduce swelling, and aid in the removal of toxins. It is often used after surgery, but it can treat many other conditions, including (but not limited to) injury, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and edema related to pregnancy or other conditions.

MLD is not available for online booking, because of the additional health history information needed to schedule these sessions, so please call to make an appointment for this service. If you have had a recent surgery, please obtain your doctor’s clearance before scheduling a lymphatic drainage massage.

Available in 45 and 60 minute durations. Prices vary by session length.

  • Myofascial Release

Myofascial release (MFR) is a gentle, yet therapeutic manual therapy that treats the myofascial system, (muscles and fascia). Fascia is a connective tissue, found all throughout our bodies, surrounding muscles, nerves, blood vessels, organs, and bones! The goal of MFR is to release fascial restrictions which can cause pain and limit movement.

During MFR sessions, your therapist will assess the tissues to find fascial restrictions and then apply gentle, constant pressure, maintaining that pressure until the tension and restriction releases. This process restores fascia’s normal function and helps to decrease pain, increase range of motion, improve circulation and promote overall relaxation.

Available in 60 and 90 minute durations. We also offer 15 minute add-ons. Prices vary by session length.

  • Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a style of bodywork that originates in Japan and has roots in the principles of traditional Chinese medicine. Shiatsu combines assisted stretching techniques and joint mobilization with applied, targeted pressure to specific points on the body. Pressure to these points is applied with the thumbs, fingers, which activates the nervous system and stimulates the circulatory and lymphatic systems. Shiatsu massage can be performed through light clothing, without oil, and is usually done on a floor mat, rather than a massage table.

Benefits of shiatsu include increased energy, reduced chronic pain and headaches, increased circulation, reduced stress and anxiety, and improved sleep.

Available in 60 and 90 minute durations. We also offer 15 minute add-ons. Prices vary by session length.

  • Reflexology

Reflexology is a complementary massage modality that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet, and sometimes the hands, head, or ears as well. Reflexology practitioners use their thumbs, fingers, or special tools to massage these points, stimulating the body’s natural healing mechanisms and promoting deep relaxation. The theory behind reflexology is that by stimulating these points, practitioners can help to improve circulation to promote healing, reduce stress and anxiety, induce a state of deep relaxation, relieve pain, improve mood and sleep, aid digestion, boost immunity and energy levels, and enhance overall well-being.

Massage of the feet can also help manage plantar fasciitis and pregnancy related foot pain. There are trigger points on the hand that can help manage frequent headaches as well.

Available in 30 minute sessions or as a 15 minute add-on to other massage services.

  • Chair Massage

For clients who are unable to lay comfortably on a massage table, chair massage offers a convenient and relaxing way to receive bodywork to improve your physical well-being. Performed without oil while clothed and in a forward leaning, seated position, chair massage is much like table massage including many of the same techniques. While we are limited to upper body work only, chair massage can still be very effective, providing many of the same benefits as table massage. Someone who suffers from upper back, neck, shoulder, or head pain would be a good candidate for this modality.

Please call us to schedule this service so we can discuss any restrictions or mobility issues you may have prior to your visit.

Available in a 30 minute session.

  • Out Visits/In-Home Massage

While we provide most of our work from inside our beautiful and spacious office, we do, on occasion, travel to accommodate clients who cannot make the trip in to see us. If you have mobility issues or there is some other deterrent which prevents you from being able to get to us, please call our office to inquire whether one of our therapists can come to your location to provide treatment. Our out visits are priced by session length and include our regular office prices plus a travel/convenience fee.

  • On-Site/Corporate/Event Massage

We have provided on site services for hundreds of events over the last 25+ years! We are extremely versatile and can bring only one therapist or many! We can bring massage tables or massage chairs (or a combination of both)! We can do 5 minute sessions or 30 minute (or even longer) sessions! Add-On Services

  • Myofascial Cupping

Myofascial cupping is a therapeutic technique used to treat injury, musculoskeletal disorders, or other connective tissue conditions. It combines traditional cupping therapy with myofascial release principles to alleviate muscle tension, increase joint range of motion, and improve circulation. During this treatment, specialized suction cups are placed on the skin to create a vacuum that lifts the skin and fascia. The cups are then glided along the restricted areas releasing and mobilizing soft tissue, increasing blood flow and creating space for muscles and other underlying tissues to relax. This technique helps to release fascial restrictions, reduce pain, and enhance joint mobility. Myofascial cupping can be particularly beneficial for athletes dealing with injuries or any individual suffering from chronic pain, muscle tension, or reduced range of motion. It is a great complement to many types of massage.

Cupping is available as a $25 add on to another service.

  • Infrared Heat Lamp

Our infrared heat lamps are the perfect addition to any of our other massage services. The infrared light instrument produces infrared light and heat which has strong penetrability. The skin and subcutaneous tissue absorb the infrared energy and convert it into heat energy. This can produce thermal effects in the muscles and other connective tissues such as capillary dilation and improved local blood circulation which promote tissue repair and regeneration, making it therapeutic in and of itself. Positioning of the infrared light over a tight or hypertonic area also helps to warm the tissue and allow for deeper pressure to be applied during your massage, with less pain and discomfort.

Infrared heat lamp is available as a $10 add-on to another service.

  • Aromatherapy Add-On

Our aromatherapy add-on utilizes essential oils, which are derived from plants, to induce relaxation and relieve stress. Some essential oils also possess anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties that may help manage pain and muscle tension. Pairing aromatherapy with massage can also enhance sleep quality, alleviate headaches, reduce symptoms of depression, increase circulation, improve skin health, and provide relief from respiratory issues.

Our aromatherapy oils are hand blended by Vickie Gardner Nichols, who is a London School of Aromatherapy educated aromatherapist. She uses the highest quality oils which are ethically sourced from all over the world. Vickie has been teaching massage students how to safely use essential oils for over 25 years and is also a member of the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy is available as a $10 add on to another service.

  • Kinesio Taping

Kinesio taping is a therapeutic technique involving the application of elastic adhesive tape to the skin in specific patterns to support muscles and joints without restricting movement. The tape is designed to mimic the elasticity of human skin, allowing for full range of motion while providing support and stability. The benefits of kinesio taping include pain relief, reduced swelling, improved circulation, and enhanced muscle function. It allows the current injury to heal while also helping to prevent further injury by promoting proper movement patterns and alignment. Additionally, kinesio tape may facilitate rehabilitation by encouraging muscle activation and providing feedback to the brain, aiding in motor control and recovery.

Kinesio taping can benefit anyone from a young athlete with overused or injured muscles to someone more advanced in age who is suffering from degenerative joint disease, and everyone in between!

Kinesio taping is available as a $10 add on, per area, to another service.

New Amenities (Coming Soon!)

  • Infrared Sauna

Infrared sauna provides a relaxing therapy that facilitates an invigorating and detoxifying deep tissue sweat. The sauna’s infrared heat penetrates our joints and muscles to relieve pain stemming from overuse, and can reduce inflammation by increasing circulation. This increased blood circulation has been shown to aid in the recovery of acne, eczema, and other skin conditions, and can also help reduce the appearance of scars and wrinkles by stimulating collagen production. Regular use of infrared sauna can also increase your metabolism by producing sweat and burning calories. Studies have shown that in infrared sauna session can burn up to 600 calories and cause your metabolic rate to elevate, indicating that you should burn calories at a heightened rate for hours after your sauna has ended, making this a perfect service to indulge in before a workout! Unlike traditional saunas that use heat to warm the air, which in turn heats the body, a full spectrum infrared sauna uses light which penetrates soft tissue to heat your body directly without warming the air around you. This allows an infrared sauna to create the same results at lower temperatures, which makes it a great choice for people who dislike the extreme heat of a traditional sauna.

  • Cold Plunge

Cold plunges, or cold water immersion, offer a variety of health benefits that promote physical and mental well-being. Regular exposure to cold water can improve circulation by enhancing blood flow and oxygen delivery to muscles, aiding in post-exercise recovery. Cold plunges are also known to reduce inflammation and muscle soreness, making them popular among athletes. Additionally, they can stimulate the release of endorphins, promoting a sense of well-being and reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression. Cold exposure may boost the immune system by increasing the production of white blood cells, and it can enhance resilience to stress, improving overall mental clarity and focus. Lastly, cold plunges may improve skin health by tightening pores and reducing the appearance of blemishes.
